Homemade Brown Gravy

I made this gravy at the last minute because I decided to make mashed potatoes instead of rice, and it came out pretty yummy. When I poured it over the mashed potatoes to save for another day, once reheated, it made the taters taste just like KFC, gravy and all.

1/4 c butter
1/4 c flour
3 beef bouillon cubes
2 c water
1/4 tsp salt, to taste
1/4 tsp pepper, to taste.

1. Add butter, flour, and bouillon cubes to saucepan. Over medium heat, blend together until no lumps are visible. Add salt and pepper.
2. Continue to cook over medium heat for 5-10 minutes or until mixture starts to brown. Slowly add water, stirring constantly.
3. Cook and stir until gravy boils and thickens. Remove from heat and allow to sit. Gravy will thicken as it sits.
